Our Services

Building Skills NY’s Construction Career Accelerator program (CCA) provides no-cost, advanced construction skills training to adult New York City residents.


Program Curriculum

Participants who are new to construction may enroll in the Core and/or Foundations tracks. Those who have completed Core may enroll in trade-specific courses.

Core
80 hours
Introduces site safety, employability skills, construction math, and material handling.
Certifications issued: NCCER Core
Foundations
58 hours
OSHA-30, 10-hour Site Safety Training, 4-hour Supported Scaffold, 4-Hour Work Zone Flagger, Silica Awareness, F-60, G-60, S-92, S-93, S-94
Electrical
150 hours
Introduces the electrical trade including conduit threading and raceway installation.
Certifications issued: NCCER Electrical Level 1 | Prerequisites: NCCER Core
Plumbing
145 hours
Introduces the plumbing trade including plumbing math and water distribution systems.
Certifications issued: NCCER Plumbing Level 1 | Prerequisites: NCCER Core
Carpentry
170 hours
Introduces the carpentry trade including floor systems and roof framing.
NCCER Carpentry Level 1 | Prerequisites: NCCER Core

Eligibility

Job seekers must meet the following criteria to participate in our job placement program:

  • Permanent resident of New York City
  • Authorized to work in the United States
  • 18+ years of age
