Dwayne Campbell
BRONX, NEW YORK
March 2020 – Building Skills New York, a non-profit organization working to provide underserved New Yorkers with good paying jobs, announced today Bronx March Worker of the Month, Dwayne Campbell.
Campbell is a local Bronx resident who had been working on a low paying job and falling behind on his rent. He was referred to Building Skills from workforce partner BronxWorks. Building Skills was able connect Campbell to a job with RC Structures, working on the Brookfield project in his own borough. He is now doing general labor, flagging, and fire watch on the site.
“Building Skills connected me to a job where I am now making a good salary and my rent is back in good standing,” Campbell said. “I am so thankful for this opportunity to work on the Brookfield site.”
Building Skills recently announced their total number of 2019 job placements was 340, up 45 percent from 2018. Building Skills helps New Yorkers find work through free job training and job placement services. Additionally, Building Skills continues to provide on-the-job support to each worker as they seek to broaden their skillset and advance their construction career.
BSNY’s “Worker of the Month” monthly series aims to highlight and honor workers placed in jobs throughout New York City.
