May 1, 2019 – Building Skills New York, a non-profit organization working to provide underserved New Yorkers with good paying jobs, announced today its first ever Bronx Worker of the Month, Latroy Ewell.
Ewell came to Building Skills NY through the HOPE Program. He now works as a roofer at Bronx Commons, a BFC Partners project, with Klein Roofing.
“While in training with the HOPE Program, I was connected with Building Skills,” said Latroy Ewell. “With their help, I found a job in two days and am now working to build the borough that I’m proud to call my home. I’m ecstatic that this city is starting to provide opportunities to every New Yorker in every borough.”
Last year Building Skills New York filled 235 NYC construction and related jobs, with Bronx residents making up 41 percent of workers placed.
BSNY’s “Worker of the Month” monthly series aims to highlight and honor workers placed in jobs throughout New York City.
