BRONX, NEW YORK February 26, 2020 – Building Skills New York, a non-profit organization working to provide underserved New Yorkers with good paying jobs, announced today Bronx February Worker of the Month, Andrew Hutchinson.

Building Skills New York, a non-profit organization working to provide underserved New Yorkers with good paying jobs, announced today Bronx February Worker of the Month, Andrew Hutchinson.

Hutchinson has been employed on several worksites since connecting with Building Skills in 2018, including the St. Barnabas Hospital project in the Belmont neighborhood of the Bronx. He currently works as a tile helper for Arker Companies on the 40 Debevoise Street project in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.

Hutchinson was able to secure his OSHA-30, fall prevention training, and drug and alcohol awareness training through Building Skills.

“Building Skills has been a great experience for me,” said Hutchinson. “The staff always goes the extra mile and continues to check in and provide support. They have impacted my life in a really big way.”

Building Skills recently announced their total number of 2019 job placements was 340, up 45 percent from 2018. Building Skills helps New Yorkers find work through free job training and job placement services. Additionally, Building Skills continues to provide on-the-job support to each worker as they seek to broaden their skillset and advance their construction career.
