“Building Skills New York gave me the opportunity to change my life”
With a second baby on the way, Rahdell Hall was devastated when he lost his job as a carpenter. The 27-year-old Bronx resident was searching for a job at several construction sites, when he picked up a Building Skills NY (BSNY) flyer. He connected with BSNY and a week later he was working as a mason laborer at St. Barnabas Hospital just a short walk from his home.
He credits BSNY for their support during the hiring process and for “giving me the confidence I needed to secure the job”. Rahdell says that the incredible staff at BSNY listened to his story and were instantly supportive and helpful: “Building Skills New York gave me the opportunity to change my life”.
This May, Rahdell welcomed a second baby girl and is newly engaged. He plans to go back to school and become an entrepreneur. Rahdell says becoming a father of two gave his life new purpose: “My daughters are my inspiration and Building Skills helped me want something different.”
In less than a year, with the help of BSNY, Rahdell has earned multiple certifications and secured two good paying construction jobs to provide for his growing family.
