Building Skills NY is announcing the formal launch of its workforce training program in partnership with Goldman Sachs Bank's Urban Investment Group, the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA), and Brooklyn Workforce Innovation (BWI).

WHAT: Building Skills NY is announcing the formal launch of its workforce training program in partnership with Goldman Sachs Bank's Urban Investment Group, the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA), and Brooklyn Workforce Innovation (BWI).

Building Skills NY will recruit and train individuals to work on affordable housing developments in their local communities, by offering no-cost construction education and hands-on training, industry certifications, and job placement services to low income and unemployed New Yorkers in the communities where affordable housing is being built.

Media are invited to attend the launch event, which will convene city officials and prominent leaders the affordable housing industry to discuss the importance of this new program and plans for rollout. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet with featured speakers.

  • Alicia Glen, head of Goldman Sachs Bank's Urban Investment Group
  • Eric Bluestone, developer and founding member of Building Skills NY
  • Ron Moelis, developer and founding member of Building Skills NY
  • Aaron Shiffman, executive director of Brooklyn Workforce Innovation
  • Graduates of Building Skills NY pilot program
